He's an NHL All-Star, the center for the San Jose Sharks, and now he's going to be on the cover of NHL 2K7. 2K Sports has just announced that Joseph Eric Thornton will be the cover athlete for the newest addition to its hockey game franchise. Thornton led the NHL in assists and points for the 2005-2006 season and has been named an NHL All-Star three times in a row. Erik Whiteford, the vice president of marketing at 2K Sports gives a statement in the press release announcing the selection of Thornton, saying, "We're very proud to have Joe Thornton represent NHL 2K7."
In the same announcement, Thornton says, "It's a great distinction to have been selected as the cover athlete for NHL 2K7." 2K Sports' new hockey game comes out for the Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, and PS3 this fall.
